The shop Agnitha was founded in 1994 by [Mrs] Agoustidou Eri and is situated in the village Mesta, Chios island. Its main activity is the making and selling of hand woven textiles (curtains, towel, pillows, tapestry) made from natural yarn? (Silk, linen, cotton, wool) in traditional and free? motives, as well as the selling of handmade greek jewellery, made of silver and semi-precious stones. Ceramics, dolls, wooden painted icons and other hand-made items of traditional art are also sold.
Eri Avgoustidou was born and is living in Athens. She firstly developed an interest in handweaving when she visited the traditional village "Mesta", in the island of Chios. She therefore decided to create a centre, in the castle of Mesta, where she would weave and sell textiles. Eri begun her training in the art of handweaving by attending special courses at the museum "Aggeliki Hatzimichali" in Athens, as well as at the Hellenic Organization of Small Medium sized Enterprises and Handicraft (EOMMEX).

In 1994 she founded a workshop for hand weaving in Mesta, and some years later another one in Athens. She frequently travels around Greece and Cyprus to visit places where traditional textiles are woven, in order to enhance her knowledge. Moreover, Eri attends seminars in London with William Sefferies, who is a specialist in tapestry. Every new technique she readily applies to her own looms and along with her experience she creates unique pieces of art. All materials used are natural; wool, linen, silk, cotton, often coloured using natural dyes. Designs are either traditional or contemporary.

The resulting creations reflect warmth from the very nature of their materials and the harmony between colours and motives. That makes them suitable for homes of any decorative style. In her shop/workshop in Mesta, one can also find jewellery and other handmade items of traditional art, chosen from all around Greece with care and love for tradition.
All the textiles are hand-woven by her in the shop of Mesta, as well as in her weaving workshop (branch) in Neo Iraklio, Athens.
